p.57 Brisbane Courier-Mail 18th Mai 2014: 'Low income people hit, imbalances ignored' by Noel Whittaker:
“The [Federal] Budget was harsh on lower-income earners. They may lose Family Tax Benefits of $3,000 per year for life. The Budget did not address the fact that 61% of income tax is paid by just 11% of Australians, while our fastest growing group is the over-65s, 85% of whom pay no income tax whatsoever. This is obviously unsustainable”.
